And on the 7th day, they rested

This morning in Cacabelos we decided to walk only as far as Villafranca del Bierzo which we did. It is the town festival today and we wanted to enjoy a little break and attend a pilgrims mass. It was an almost 12 km walk in mostly rain and we are now enjoying the luxuries of a hotel. My legs and feet needed a break. Tomorrow we will bus forward to either Triacastela or Sarria. In order to Qualify for the Compestella you must walk the last 100 km into Santiago from Sarria. Purists who have walked from France might think the decision to stop for a day and make up the distance by bus is heresy, but as long as we walk the last 100 km it is good enough for the church.

We have to this point walked a little less than 150 km. 147 ish over 7 days. We will walk another 100 starting Monday. But today we rest.

Good enough for the church or not, I am humbled by your current 147km total and amazed at the 250km total for the trip. You guys rock. Stay safe and Godspeed. Enjoy the down time you have earned it.

Thank you . Hard to leave the trail today but necessary. What is amazing is dome of the 60 and 70 year old pilgrims who just keep moving. Awesome. Cheers!
